Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that on the

29th.ultimo, I telegraphed to you as follows:-

and received the following reply" on the 2nd,instant:-

"In answer to your telegram of 29th.May, I
. advise that you should take no Lotice.

I have accordingly informed Mr.Pearson that I
was unable to support his scheme.
2. The names of persons he telegraphed as willing
to assist him led me to. believe that perhaps you might desire
the scheme to be supported, though I thought it possible that
it might not be desirable; hence my asking for your decision.
